Safety Tips

When considering the purchase of a firearm:
The founding fathers of our country insured that each and every one of us should have the right to purchase, own and use with responsibility a firearm. In fact Thomas Jefferson practiced with his pistol every day that he could. For our Second Amendment to stand the test of time it is most important that when the decision to buy is made that a firm commitment is also made to study, learn and master the responsibilities of firearm ownership.
Always treat a firearm as if it is loaded. Unloaded firearms have killed or injured many a person. Understand the safety mechanisms and how they work. What is a manual safety as opposed to a decocker? The manufacturer's printed matter will cover that with each new firearm purchased.
How do you safely clear the action of your firearm?
Should I store the firearm and ammunition apart from each other?
Should I insure that when I purchase a firearm that I obtain a trigger lock or buy an arm with key-lock capability?
Are there state and local laws I should be aware of as to the storage and lock ability of my new firearm?
Should I take a safety class on firearms?
I have young children in the house--how and where should I safely store my new firearm?
Firearm safety is a must. Learn all you can and own, store and use your new firearm with confidence.
